Book Re-Review – The Journey Continues

Vidya introduced us to Sri M when we stayed with her and Anand in 2018. I bought three of his books right away and posted a review too Experience Review – Books of Sri M. I bought Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master, The Journey Continues and Shunya. At that time, I didn’t have the India Kindle account.

Last year we created a India Kindle account in order to access Kindle Unlimited. The Journey Continues, came up as suggested reading a week back. I just re-read it and it left me feeling even more in awe of Sri M’s life experiences.

In this book he shares stories from his past lives and they include meeting Krishna, Buddha and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Just for that alone, the book is worth a read. Some amazing conversations between him and his Master Maheshwarnath Babaji are also recounted.

Sharing some excerpts here.

About Guruvayoor temple and the Narayaneeyam

“Melapathur Narayana Bhattathiri, apart from being a scholar and mathematician, was the author of Narayaneeyam. The Narayaneeyam is a devotional Sanskrit work in the form of a poem or hymn, comprising 1036 verses and gives a summary of the great Bhagavatha Purana. The story goes that his guru Achyuta Pisharodi had painful arthritis. Unable to bear his guru’s agony and suffering, Bhattathiri, by his yogic power, took the disease and relieved his guru. He soon discovered that the pain was excruciating and resolved to make a pilgrimage to Guruvayur, confident that Guruvayurappan would relieve him of the disease.

He then started with composing one dasaka (ten stanzas) a day, sitting before Sri Guruvayurappan and in a hundred days, had completed the Narayaneeyam. It is said that on the last day, he was blessed with a full vision of Guruvayurappan and got cured of his painful disease. Even today, Narayaneeyam, which is in Sanskrit, is held in great esteem in Kerala and read with great devotion.”

The conversations between Sri M and his Master Maheshwarnath Babaji offer tremendous spiritual insights and also speak of Yoga, Tantra and other practices.

We missed attending his three day spiritual retreat in March 2019. Hopefully we get a chance to attend another one soon.
