Last week, we managed to do something that we hadn’t done in decades ! Walking in the rains :).
Ever since the cell phone has become a part of our lives, walking in the rains has become impossible because one is worried about the phone. Not just the phones, actually all the gadgets. We have headphones, car keys, smart watches etc.
In fact Krishnan mistakenly wore the BoAT smart watch while swimming and its gone. Even though it says it’s waterproof. I guess most of the inexpensive smart watches are water resistant and not waterproof.
Am so glad we went out in the rains. There were a couple of other folks who also got out and two little children played football. It felt like the old times. I still remember, the minute it would start raining, Krishnan and I would get onto the bike and just go for a ride. We had a Kawasaki bike in the 90’s and getting wet in the rains was a huge high.
With all the cycling that we have done with the Pedalyatris, we have collected some nice rain gear. We have these waterproof pouches for our phones. The brand is “Seal Line”. I got it from a REI store in the US. They are truly handy.
That’s how we got a pic :). We had to take a picture to remember doing something fun, right ?
So next time it rains, just head out and enjoy walking in the rains. Its therapeutic.

Bindu & Krishnan,
Our weather has been so erratic lately, that I can’t depend on the rain to last long enough to get outside. Alternatively, we have had drenching thunder showers that are dangerously violent, with high winds and falling tree limbs. These can occur in the same day, interspersed with periods of brilliant sunshine, mist, and steam. The mud and puddles outlast the rain, grow mosquitoes, and ruin shoes.
In the past, I have enjoyed getting outside in the rain, barefooted, and doing yardwork and gardening, because soil is looser, and weeds easier to remove. It’s also cooler, without the sun’s glare.
But life is a series of phases, and that phase has passed. Now, I’d rather watch the rain from under a roof.
