Burmese Khow Suey – Veg

The first time I heard of Khow Suey was at Rosy and Narinder’s house. I didn’t know OPOS then. We simply gobbled up the food and never bothered to find out about the recipe :):). Rosy is an awesome cook, and given my limited interest in cooking I just let it slide.

Then OPOS happened to me in 2016 and since then it has been a magical journey with the Magic pot. I have made everything that seems difficult and very involved, in a few minutes using the 2 Lit Magic Pot.

A couple of weeks back I made the Burmese Khow Suey at home –

I used the recipe posted by Tarla Dalal – Burmese Khowsuey.

Tarla Dalal’s recipe says the total time required to make Khow Suey is 4 hours and 10 minutes. Including the time to cut these vegetables, making the paste and fresh coconut milk – I made it in 30 minutes ! Simultaneously rice got done in the electric cooker. The vegetables tasted fresh and of course the lemon juice, bhujia instead of fried onions, roasted peanuts and fresh coriander all added to the taste.

This can be eaten as a soup or with noodles instead of rice. Tastes really good. Have made it a couple of times since.

This is the magic of OPOS. Read an old post of mine – The OPOS life – Easy, Tasty and so much variety.

Note – OPOS, OPOS logo, One Pot One Shot & CPF cooking are registered. Please learn the methodology by becoming a part of the FB page – OPOS Support group or buy the OPOS Cookbook – 5 minute magic on Kindle. There are several other OPOS Cookbook titles available on Amazon that teach you the method and share different recipes.
