Thirupaavai Paasuram #30
Paasuram #30, marks the conclusion of the Margazhi Nonbu. There are deep concepts for spiritual growth in these simple songs. They also offer several insights for leading a happy life and being effective at work.
This blog is our space to write about our thoughts, views and notes about our travels. Osho owned 90 Rolls Royces while being a Sanyasi …. The so-felt contradiction is very fascinating and hence the name !

Material wealth enables the spiritual quest… and that’s why Andal asks Krishna for material wealth too !!! Remember a rich country is respected, a poor country is exploited.
Paasuram #23 is about pursuing lofty goals that help the community and not be stuck with our small personal gains. Just as you should ask for Moksha from Bhagwan, set lofty goals.
Bhagwan Krishna’s anugraha (grace) ensures that all our past Karma is wiped out and we get Moksha…At work that translates to choosing the right time to seek approval 🙂.
In Paasuram #16 Andal teaches us about the power of words and how we should use them judiciously ! It’s also about accepting cognitive diversity.
In Paasuram #14, Andal speaks about integrity and keeping one’s word. In the corporate parlance it’s about walking the talk ! Are you walking the talk ?
In Paasuram #13 Andal speaks about how over sleeping robs you of valuable time. It’s so true … we waste so much time when we are young and then have little time as we age to do things we always wanted to.
Paasuram #12 is all about persistence and grit in the face of constraints as we try and reach our goals in life… Its also about entitlement and how that doesn’t help.
This Paasuram seems to be proving the proverb, “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are”. Surround yourself with friends and co-workers who help you succeed.
In Paasuram #10 we see a persistent Andal trying to get another friend who sleeps like Kumbhakarna to join in the Margazhi celebration ! With friends only “chatting” over WhatsApp this is a refreshing paasuram. 🙂
