Am going slim too but that I have been doing that for a while now … and with Menopause playing a spoilsport, my slim version is still to materialize. This post is about an induction stove going slim.
I bought an induction stove in 2012 when we moved to Bangalore for a short while. We had gone to our trusted Prestige store to buy a mixie as my old one had almost broken down. That’s when the salesman there showed us the induction stove and I always like anything that runs on electricity, so I bought it. This was the Prestige pic 9.0. I didn’t use it much till 2015 when we started to travel for ShikshaDaan. In the first few trips we tried buying a 5 lit gas cylinder and a single burner gas stove thinking that was the way to cook on our trips. It was messy and a pain because no hotel or even a bed’n’breakfast place would not let you fire up a gas stove.
When we got back from our Himachal Pradesh trip in May 2015, I pulled out the Prestige induction stove and started using it at home first. Realised that it was very handy and worked exceptionally well. Then Nisha introduced the OPOS cooking method to me in Oct 2016 and the rest as they say is history. Since Jan 2017 I have hardly used the gas stove. All my cooking is done using the induction stove and it travels with us everywhere !
The only challenge I had with the Prestige induction stove was its size – its HUGE. I need to leave a lot of space for it in the bin that I use for carrying the utensils while travelling. Also since we gave up on the microwave, it was difficult to reheat quickly with just one induction stove when we had folks over for lunch etc. I started the search for a “Slim” induction stove and the one that kept coming up in all searches was the “Pigeon” Rapido Slim 2100 watt induction cooktop.
As many of my friends know I don’t like pigeons!! So I kept putting off my decision to buy this induction stove and kept searching for others. None of them were truly slim induction cooktops and even if they were, they were really expensive. Finally I bought the Pigeon Rapido Slim 2100 watt induction cooktop, last week for a cool promotional price of Rs. 1995/- on Amazon. Received it on Friday and its truly slim. Looks like something that can be easily carried in a laptop bag !
