Akshaya Tritiya 2022 – Sustaining Friendships

Akshaya Tritiya started with Gopinath and his wife coming over and having breakfast with us. They had gone to a couple of places in Himachal Pradesh for their honeymoon. I enjoyed a masterclass in silk weaving techniques ! For a Saree addict who loves Kanchi silk, there can’t be a better way to spend a morning.

After dropping Gopinath and his wife at the airport, we headed over to Aerocity to meet with Sarbjit, my school friend. Abhijeet joined us. The hours just flew.. with friends there is so much to share and talk about.

At the reception, the hotel executive asked us Sarb’s full name and how we knew him :). I said, I can give you a lot of details about him from 1983 onwards. Am sure the young man was not even born in 1983 !

Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious day for starting anything new. Anything done on this day grows manifold. For us friendships mean the world and it was the perfect day to add some more special memories.

We went to Cafe Delhi Heights for a light and early dinner. The same place where more of us had met during the 2019 reunion – Reunions 2019.

The word Akshaya means infinite and if we remember Mahabharata, Bhagwan Surya gives Yudhishtira a pot called Akshaya Patra. That pot ensures food is available to the Pandavas during their exile. This is the same day that we celebrate and ofcourse our modern Marketing champs have made it all about gold 😁.

Apparently gold sales are five or six times higher on this day than other days in the year.

Every year, my friend Usha chooses to sponsor a student from ShikshaDaan on this day… May her “Daana” grow by multiples and several students get benefitted. 🙏🏿

A well spent Akshaya Tritiya !!
