Ideally there should have been 24 hair pin bends to celebrate the 24 years since we met, but there were 20 of them as we drove up to Yercaud 🙂
This was a tiny place when we came last time in 1993 and today it has a Club Mahindra resort and many other places to stay. We had just started our computer training centre a few months before we came here then and today the car we drove in costs as much as we lost in that business …. A major hairpin bend in our life, well negotiated.
By this time in 1990, we had nearly fallen in love … A couple of days later, we had decided to marry. I had gone back to the hotel room thinking about you and I can’t recollect what Aporesh spoke of that day !! How interesting that the open air theatre here in the Club Mahindra resort is showing “Aashiqui 2” today. Our love story is just a continuation of several lives, so there was no shock of recognition, but just the acknowledgement of knowing. Soulmates, reuniting in yet another life.
The drive was fun .. Classy road, no potholes, and the Adyar Ananda Bhavan Idlis were also good. It’s about 70 kms from Bangalore. A smallish restaurant but the food is good. There was an “Iyengar” family with the ladies in the traditional nine yards sari… Good to see the traditional folks also eating out at a restaurant.
The club mahindra resort is beautiful and on a hillside. The room is large and the bed is really high, like the old times. Carry your own kettle and tea bags because it’s not kept in the room. The hot water you get in the flask is not hot enough !
Will report more on Yercaud tomorrow :):) especially food !
