As we celebrate the World Environment Day today, there is a lot for us to be proud of ! India has not only increased its forest cover, but wild tiger and leopard population has acknowledged it with an increase in their population.

The best news is the fact that India is amongst the few countries in the world where forest cover is consistently increasing.
Moving from forests, lets look at the Paris climate pact goals – India is on track to deliver ahead of schedule. Renewable energy, especially solar power generation has increased significantly.

Please note – India is building the World’s largest hybrid renewable energy park in Kutch on the back of the world’s largest installed solar power plant at Bhadla, Rajasthan.

Moving from renewable energy, lets look at natural gas …

A very important change – CNG adoption was low because there weren’t enough refilling stations. The long queues in Delhi haven’t been forgotten ! Ofcourse the increase in PNG to households is also very impressive.
Other efforts to protect the Environment

I am super thrilled to see the strides we are making in the protection of the environment, forests, biodiversity etc. We also must ensure pollution in the large cities comes down significantly. 22 Indian cities are amongst the top 30 most polluted cities in the world … a very dubious distinction :(.
The 22 cities are – Delhi, In U.P – Ghaziabad, Bulandshahar, Bisrakh Jalalpur, Noida, Greater Noida, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Muzaffarnagar, Bhiwari in Rajasthan, Faridabad, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bandhwari, Gurugram, Yamuna Nagar, Rohtak and Dharuhera in Haryana, and Muzaffarpur in Bihar. This is the list to track and make sure we make them greener and pollution free.
