…… Make delicious Mooli ke Paranthe !!
Today in the morning we went to the Uzhavar Santhai, the farmers market in Coimbatore. Every time we go to this farmers market and see the fresh vegetables, it’s difficult to pick some and leave some out.
As soon as we walked into the market and turned left to go look for drumsticks, my eyes fell on these fresh Mooli (radish) and I wanted to eat Mooli ke Paranthe. I bought a few of them. Right next to them were these tiny tender Lauki (bottle gourd), another favourite vegetable of mine. I bought those obviously :).
Got back home and quickly shredded the Mooli and mixed the wheat flour into it. The fresh Moolis were so juicy that I didnt have to add a drop of water to make the dough. I added some red chilli powder besides salt and kneaded the dough. For the OPOS Lauki ki Subzi I used just one piece of lauki, cut it into small cubes, added some masala and the subzi was ready in under 5 mins.
I always remember Gayatri aunty from Navkala when I make anything with Lauki. She was the one who taught me how to make this vegetable, especially with the masala filled inside long slivers. Need to write about that someday.
Other ways in which you can use this nutritious vegetable – Lauki or Bottlegourd Salad.
