Sri Krishna Coffee Works

I have mentioned them in my earlier coffee post – The BMK Coffee Blend. On April 12th, we managed to squeeze in a visit to their shop on R. P. Road, Secunderabad. The iconic store has probably been the same since 1953 when it was opened.

My Periyamma (Aunt) started buying coffee from them since 1965. Dad got introduced to them when he got posted to AFA, Dindigul. I bought from them when I was at Wesley College in 1988. Sometimes we have met friends at the store and sometimes we have made friends at the store !! They have regulars who have been buying coffee from them for decades.

This visit was particularly to meet Mrs. Pratibha Pai, who now knows me as the person who buys Robusta and Arabica mix without chicory. She and I have been interacting over the phone. It was nice to put a face to the voice !

Pratibha Ji and I exchanged notes on Coorg and the difference in taste with Chikmagalur coffee, the spices and their aroma etc. I was glad to hear that business had not suffered much during the pandemic, except for prices going up due to unavailability of the beans.

Do visit the store whenever you are in Secunderabad. If you just get to the junction of Head Post Office Secunderabad, the aroma will guide you to the store. Nothing much has changed in this corner.
