We have crossed the city of Nagpur several times but we haven’t stayed here more than a single night. This time we stayed for a day so that we could visit some places of historic significance like Ramtek Temple and also see the city sights.
Did you know that 50 years back, Nagpur was the capital of Madhya Pradesh ? We didn’t know. Learnt this from Raju Ji, our taxi driver today. Is that the reason RBI is located in the city of Nagpur ??!!
The Britishers erected a column signifying the Zero milestone or centre of undivided India. Even today, from this point, Delhi and Chennai are equidistant as are Mumbai and Kolkata. Fascinating !
Nagpur also boasts of Asia’s longest double decker viaduct and we went through it while going to and coming back from Ramtek. Do read about Asia’s longest double-decker viaduct..
The metro is being extended till Ramtek probably … but right now, it ends abruptly.
The city also has Dr. Ambedkar’s Deeksha sthal. This is the place where Dr. Ambedkar became a Buddhist.
Not to miss five people travelling on a two wheeler …. happens only in India. 🙂
The next one is the best pic … shows the pollution in Nagpur.
While it is higher …. the comparison with Delhi NCR will change our view completely. See pic below 👇
Hoping to visit more places next time. Whatever we have seen so far has got us interested !
