When your soul sister gifts you a classic silk saree, what should you do ? Just say thank you and enjoy wearing it as often as possible. Vidya gifted this saree to me in 2022 and I have worn it multiple times since then ! As she said over the phone, you can’t go wrong with this beautiful red colour and the checks – they are truly classic.
This is another Gopinath special. He has these sarees in several colours. Amma loved this saree that Vidya gifted and had wanted one in maroon. She wears it for all the weddings that we attend and that shows her liking for it. I think these kind of checks are called Muthu Kattam but am not sure. These are tiny evenly spaced checks.

As I have mentioned in several saree blogs earlier, I like the Kanchi and Arani silk sarees without too much zari. Ideally with thread work so that I can use it for everyday wear. This saree ticks all the boxes for me. It’s a lovely drape.
The bamboo guitars that you partially see in the background are from Shillong – my father’s collection. Couldn’t let go of them.
Do read an earlier post about our visit to the Ramtek Mandir. I am wearing the same saree – Ramtek Mandir.
For pure zari and pure silk sarees do get in touch with Gopinath Silks and Sarees.
