On July 14, 2023 Chandrayaan 3 was successfully launched. It’s expected to do a soft landing on the moon on Aug 23rd. The emphasis on soft landing is because there are only three other countries that have managed to do it – Russia, US and China. Unfortunately, the last moon mission Chandrayaan 2, in 2019, crash landed instead of a soft landing. Hopefully we will see success with this mission.
Some background info about Chandrayaan 3
About ISRO
Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO is on its way to becoming a major player in the space race, one satellite at a time. It has literally got wings under the Modi Govt. The 90’s saw ISRO slowing down and ofcourse we know what happened to Dr. Nambi Narayanan, a great aerospace scientist. Do read his book – “Ready to Fire” and watch the movie Rocketry to understand more.
When Chandrayaan 3 was lifting off, they mentioned the Vikas engine and I had goosebumps because that Vikas engine is developed by Dr. Nambi Narayanan.
Ofcourse ISRO holds the world record for the most number of satellites launched in one go – 104.
It’s thrilling to watch a rocket take off at any age. So many school children had come to Sriharikota to witness the Chandrayaan 3 launch. Am sure it will inspire many of them to become space scientists.
If Erich Von Daniken is to be believed then all our Gods and Goddesses are extra terrestrials. Would be wonderful to meet them some day :):).

Congratulations ISRO and best wishes for a soft landing on Aug 23rd. Jai Hind.
