This is the second book in the 7even series, by Mainak Dhar. I managed to find all the three books that have been published on Kindle Unlimited. This book is a continuation of Sniper’s Eye.
The story starts with a hijacking and Maj Aaditya had to be on “that” flight which got hijacked !! Well, he was trying to take a vacation with his wife Zoya and son Aman when the very flight they are on, gets hijacked. Initially the hijackers look like they are ISIS, but soon Maj Aaditya figures out that they are part of some other organisation.
The plane is forced to land in a remote place called Korengal in Afghanistan. The hijackers are demanding the release of seven criminals from the US jails and to mount pressure on the US government, they start killing few of the passengers onboard. A few passengers are killed and the rest of them are taken hostage.
Even though Maj Aaditya is told he is the next one to be killed, he is spared because the Indian govt is willing to negotiate. He is separated from Zoya and his son Aman. The hostages alongwith Zoya and Aman are taken to some other place and Maj Aaditya is taken prisoner to some other location. On the way, a young boy called Hanif creates a distraction with his goats and suddenly sniper fire takes out Maj Aaditya’s captors.
Enter Aman Karzai, the dreaded sniper who is now in Afghanistan and seemingly finds a way to help Maj Aaditya. Aman Karzai has been fighting his own demons and has eliminated several people involved with Project Lotus. He is currently helping a village in the Korengal area to keep themselves safe from the Taliban.
Aman Karzai and Maj Aaditya team up once again to find Zoya and Aman (Maj Aaditya’s son). As they get near the place where they are held hostage, several new things come to light. The hijackers have a high value target, the daughter of an ex-President of the United States. The whole hijacking was to get hold of her as a hostage because she was planning on sharing the details on Project Lotus with the whole world. The kingpin of the drug ring is an American, Ross, who served in Afghanistan.
There is also the Chinese who have a big say in the whole drug business. With the help of the Americans, Karzai and the Indian spy masters, Maj Aaditya rescues Zoya, Aman, the ex-President’s daughter, plus all the other hostages.
This book also sets the stage for the next one as we get to know of a super elite Chinese special forces unit that is operating in Afghanistan and is calling the shots on Project Lotus.
Do read this one, even standalone would be ok, but reading them one after the other is really fun because, the same characters keep coming back. The tentacles of Project Lotus go deep and wide … wait till you read the third book.
