Birthday in a gifted Saree

#LockdownTales

I rang in my 51 birthday with a saree that was gifted to me by my dearest friend Geetu for my 50th birthday :). Since I had already got my special saree for my 50th birthday, I kept her gift to be worn for this birthday. Its a beautiful printed silk and has Madhubani type print on it. Its a half-n-half because the Pallu and half the saree is in a beautiful rust colour and the middle section where the pleats are is in a light brown colour.

The neckpiece is a string of Jasper from Desh Maheswari, Noida to match with the rust coloured portion of the saree. As my school friends commented, my hair coloured with henna and indigo seems to match the saree colour. So a whole matching game going on here !!

My friend Geetu is one of the most elegant person I know of and whether its her house, her work or her dress, everything has her stamp of elegance. I started noticing it in school with her handwriting. It would be like someone has printed rather than written in the notebook. She looked elegant even in the school uniform.  A throwback picture from 2007 to prove my point, her saree is worn so well ! :).

Thank you Geetu for gifting this beautiful saree. Love it… And of course thanks for being who you are, a very very special person.

Picture Credits – Krishnan (of course), both for the pictures from today and the one from 2007.
