My Saree Today – #3, An old Favorite

I have worn this saree a hundred times and I will wear it a hundred more times 🙂 Its truly an old favorite. Bought in 2007 at Nalli’s Bangalore and such a delight to wear it. I truly understand what Marie Kondo says when she talks of a dress sparking joy – this saree sparks joy in me.

Do read more about it in this blogpost – World Saree Day 2020. An excerpt – “For the 2020 World Saree Day, I wore an all time favourite Kanchi Silk saree. Krishnan bought this at Nalli’s, M G Road, Bangalore in 2007. I always wear this to flag off winters ! This time I wore it sometime in November and then Winters took time to show up. Wore it again yesterday. It is a handwoven Kanchi Silk with checks all over. The following pictures are from 2015 when we visited Himachal Pradesh as part of our ShikshaDaan Yatra. I just wanted to remember my most favourite place on Earth, where coincidentally I wore my favourite saree.”

Here’s another old pic from 2021.

Favorite Saree - Brown with checks
This is from 2021, not a very clear picture but the saree is captured.

When you wear a favorite dress you don’t want to take it off. It feels comfortable, well worn and just right. I even did my walk in this saree today.

My whole idea of sharing these saree posts is to share my joy when wearing them and the fact that I use each saree for a really long time. Most of my sarees are between 10 to 30 years old and am happy to repeat them over and over again. It’s also about buying for quality and not just quantity.

Hope everyone had a great day ! Mine started with a fight with Mom but got progressively better.
