Earlier in the day we watched Manu Bhaker miss out on a medal opportunity in the 25M shooting as she came in 4th place. … Yeah it was disappointing but Manu is young and she has already won a couple of bronze medals !!
Who is Manu Bhaker ?
When Manu won the first olympic medal in the women’s 10m Air Pistol shooting for Bharat, I wrote that she had done the “Boni” (first sale/first medal) for us. Well, she added one more Bronze to our kitty alongwith Sarabjit Singh in the Mixed 10m Air Pistol Shooting.
Do read the short background about Manu Bhaker posted on the Olympics.com website –

Well, Manu is really young at 22 and when you watch her shoot, she is so calm and collected … Neither the occasion nor the weight of expectations seem to have any impact on her. Nerves of steel ? Yeah, it does seem so.
At least in Manu’s case, Government of India spent Rs. 2 Crores in her training. It goes to show that given the right amount of training and support, Bharatiya athletes can and will shine on any stage. We have the talent, we just don’t have the sports culture and the facilities.
Hopefully in the next Olympics, Manu brings home the Gold. This is one shooter who should always hit her target (pun intended). Also glad that Manu spoke of how the Bhagwad Gita helped her… no wonder she was so cool under all that pressure. Thank you Krishna 🙏🏿. What you said to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra thousands of years back is helping so many millions of people even now. Obviously the Gita is eternal because it’s the truth.
There is a lot more to come !! Manu, congratulations on winning two medals in your first Olympic outing. You will inspire millions of young girls in Bharat to take up sports. Thank you for that 👍.
Jai Hind.
