Chicago Fire and Firehouse 51

If anyone told me a month ago, that I will binge watch a series on TV, I would have laughed and said “no way”, but Chicago Fire changed it all. Arun had mentioned about this series on Twitter and we watched the first episode with mere curiosity. That curiosity soon turned into binge watching.

Krishnan and I have watched all the episodes across the four seasons that are available on Netflix. Am having withdrawal pangs already… I want to know what happens after Casey visits Dawson and the situation with Jimmy and Chief Boden. We tried catching the other seasons on You Tube but the picture and sound quality is bad.

Chicago Fire

The show explores the lives, both professional and personal, of the firefighters, rescue personnel and paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department at the fictional Firehouse 51, home of the fictional Engine Company 51, Truck Company 81, Rescue Squad Company 3, Battalion 25 and Ambulance 61. Read more at – Chicago Fire (TV Series).

We are blown away with the speed of response, the kind of equipment and safety norms that are followed by the fire fighters in the US. Am sure many developed countries have similar training and equipment etc but seeing it on TV is something else.

Firehouse 51

The fictional Firehouse 51 reminds me so much of Hewitt !! The family like atmosphere, the way all the employees support each other and the friendships at work – just wonderful to see. Its also a slice of America the way it was meant to be and the way it is in several parts. Often the outside world sees America from the lens of the politicians and Hollywood. This TV series shows it as it really is.

Milwaukee and Springfield Marriott got mentioned in a couple of episodes and I was thrilled … Ofcourse the Navy Pier, Willis Towers and Shedd Aquarium are seen in a few episodes. Am hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aon building. All those places bring back lovely memories.

Hope Season 5 to 10 gets onto Netflix soon, so we can continue watching the series. I don’t want to read up the story of each episode :).

Highly recommended. Do watch the slick production and learn a few things about fighting fires as well along the way.
