Two Historical Events
On Aug 31 there are two historical events that took place.
- In the year 1751, on Aug 31st, the “robber” Sir Robert Clive occupied Arcot in TamilNadu, the start of the British colonisation of India.
- 24 years back, on Aug 31st, the world heard the sad news of Lady Diana’s fatal car crash. Krishnan and I had relocated to Delhi just 14 days before on Aug 17 as a bankrupt couple. We had just moved into the apartment in East Delhi and saw the news on our neighbour’s TV.

First the news of India’s medal tally reaching double digits at the ongoing Paralympics was just historic !

Then news of 1.3 crore vaccine shots being administered came through – what an achievement !!!
India’s vaccination program is the world’s largest already. And we have done 10 million + doses on two occasions in the month of August. So happy to see a new resurgent India. Even more happier that the perennial naysayers are scrambling to blame the Modi Government for “something”. 😁
