I bought this sari at Kalpana, DT City Centre mall, Gurgaon. They have some amazing saris and at one point in time, I was a regular there. This sari is atleast 5 to 6 years old.. its South Indian cotton with North Indian embroidery over it. I don’t know what type of embroidery it is. Love the colours and the way the sari drapes. The neckpiece is from Desh Maheshwari, Noida. This picture has been taken at Bathinda.
I have a picture from 2012 when I wore this sari. A dear friend Kavita Kanaparthi, an ultra marathoner had come home with a great cyclist, Samim Rizvi. Samim is the first Indian to qualify for the Race Across America – RAAM, considered to be the toughest cycling race in the world. We obviously took pictures and interestingly I was wearing this sari.
The neckpiece I am wearing in the following picture is also from Desh Maheshwari, Noida. Its multi coloured stones and it fits many different saris.
Dear Bindu, I really enjoy your blogs. Some are a pleasure to read and thought provoking. But one thing. Why do you write about the sarees that you buy with photo?. Everyone buys what they like and afford. No need to tell the whole world about them.Sorry to tell you this.RegardsSyamala

Dear Syamala, I love saris and the sari posts are just to remember about them and in a roundabout manner, I am hoping that young women get interested in saris :). I have recently become a part of a group on Facebook which is all about handloom saris – so part of the detailing is also because I have become a little more knowledgeable about the fabrics, embroidery types etc. Hope this explains my sari posts. Regards.
Love you in this saree and both neck pieces! Beautiful you!
Thanks Anu 🙂
