The highest ever temperature that Delhi has seen …. Well, what can I say. It is “bloody” hot. I am praying to Hanuman Ji that he swallows the Sun briefly to give us some respite or at least brings one of the Himalayan mountains and plonks it in front of our apartment complex – that’s how hot it is.
Ever since the 1st of May, if we took a shower anytime after 8 am, we had free solar powered hot water. If the tap was opened around 2 pm, our hand could almost get scalded. There were videos of an Indian Army soldier on the Rajasthan border roasting a “papad” out in the open by just pouring sand over it :(. What did we do to incur the wrath of Surya Dev???
Yesterday Rajesh had posted that his EV’s dashboard showed 50 degrees.
I had clicked a pic at 8 am inside our car. It is parked in the shade, so can’t blame the Sun (pun intended) for it.
Then during the day my school friend Abhijeet sent a pic that showed 49 deg C…
And then today morning we saw that Delhi had clocked the highest ever temperature of 52.3 degrees celsius. Is It Really 52.9 Degrees In Delhi? Weather Chief Says Investigating Readings
It’s almost as if the weather Gods are upset with the people of Delhi for having elected Thugpurush as the CM of Delhi 🙄. Yeah I have to blame somebody and it can’t be me :). In the evening today, there have been showers and the temperature did come down to 26 deg C and 30 deg C, but no rains in Gurgaon. There was just a dust storm and the fragrance of petrichor in the air for a few minutes but no shower.
The ACs can’t be switched off… we try and give a break every couple of hours but it’s just impossible to think in the heat.
In 2022 we experienced temperatures in the high forties but don’t remember it ever reaching 50. And in the month of May we even had rains that brought some relief. Do read my blogpost on May 23, 2022 – 46 Deg to 23 Deg 😁. Last year too, the weather was winter like till the first week of May …. A Crisp Winter Morning.
Maybe it will rain tomorrow … can’t get our hopes high, but hope is all that we can do :).
