This is another one of Freida Mcfadden’s books and a really good one. The plot is built innocuously and then towards the end you realise there are so many sub plots …. very nicely written. I struggled for a minute when I had to change Co-Worker to Coworker !! Am still a Wren & Martin girl and Vidyasagar Sir’s student. Writing concatenated words without a hyphen feels really strange 😁.
The Coworker – Plot
Natalie is the star salesperson for Vixed, a nutritional supplement company. A new accountant, named Dawn Schiff joins the company. Dawn has a huge fixation for turtles and everyone finds her a little strange.
Also, Dawn is very regimented, reaching office at the same time every single day. So when one day she is late, Natalie gets worried. She tries checking with her manager and other coworkers if they have heard anything from Dawn but no one has.
Natalie goes to Dawn’s house and the plot thickens – she finds blood on the carpet and no sign of Dawn. The police arrives on the scene and soon Natalie is the main suspect in the murder of Dawn. The series of emails that are exchanged between Dawn and her best friend Mia give clues about how Natalie was nasty to Dawn. A dead giveaway (pun intended).
Caleb, a temp IT guy at Vixed is Natalie’s boyfriend but he refuses to give her an alibi. Natalie gets arrested for the murder of Dawn Schiff, especially after the body of a young woman of Dawn’s age surfaces. The murder weapon is also found by Natalie in her laundry basket !! She just doesn’t know who brought it there and who has it out for her.
You never guess Mia’s identity till the very end and that her brother helped stage the whole thing… Don’t want to give away the plot. Do read the book. It’s fast paced and well written.
Kindle Unlimited in India seems to have a few more of Freida McFadden’s books available. Am picking up the next one for a quick read.
