Its an extremely auspicious day today for us Hindus. Its Vaikuntha Ekadasi, the one day that Maha Vishnu keeps the door open to his abode, Vaikuntham. As I had tweeted earlier in the day, there would be some readers smirking at this statement. Vaikuntha is enlightenment and on certain days, the cosmic energies are most available to make the transition. Today is one such day !
Am sharing an excellent Twitter Thread about Ekadasi and why we should be fasting on this day by Meenakshi Sharan.
Vaikuntha Ekadasi and its importance

On #ThisDay Shri Krishna gave Geeta Gyaan to Arjun. #GeetaJayanti. This Ekadashi is known as Chinta Mani-Mukti Dvaar, become one with Krishna, chant:
ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय।
So what’s the science behind #Ekadashi 1/n
Ekaadasha = 11
The 11th lunar day of both lunar phases, Shukl paksh (brightening moon) & Krishna paksh (fading moon),is Ekadashi. During Shukl Paksh the moon appears 3/4 full & during Krishna paksh it appears 3/4 dark.
There’re 24 #Ekadashi s in year, 2 more in the leap year
Due to the orbital path combination of the sun,moon & the earth the air pressure in atmosphere changes to extremes on both poornima & amavasya as can be seen in tidal waves which are rough & high but calm on the next day indicating the decreased pressure #SwargVathilEkadashi
Since the atmospheric pressure’s the lowest on Ekadashi , our vaigyanik Rishis chose it as the best time to detoxifying & cleanse the digestive system. To recharge your mind & give some rest to your digestive system twice a month, observe a fast on #Ekadashi
Stay away from grains, oil, cooked food, have only fruit, nuts, milk/ curd. You will automatically be more prayerful & grateful, every time your mind is drawn towards food, you’ll be reminded of #Ekadashi & hence smaran of Shri Vishnu #SwargVathilEkadashi #VaikunthaEkadashi
Its important that we understand how our health is closely associated with the environment. The fasting on Ekadasi has got nothing to do with religion, its about understanding Mother Nature and staying in tune with her. Its also a day to reflect on life and become aware of our spiritual journey.
We are all fasting today. Do watch the Srirangam Vaikuntha Ekadasi Paramapathavasal opening today. My uncle sent this early in the morning. All thanks to technology that makes it easy to travel without travelling :):).
ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय।
