This brilliant short story was shared by a friend in our whatsapp group today. The source is not known so am unable to give credit.
Everything is in your hands
“A young boy went to a soothsayer to inquire about his future. The soothsayer drew two circles. One in white and the other in black. He then put a millipede between the circles, saying “if the millipede crawls into the white circle, your future will be bright and great, but if it crawls into the black circle, then you are finished and doomed! No future at all!”.
As soon as the insect was dropped between the circles, it began crawling towards the white circle.
The young boy was super-excited.
But suddenly, as it got to the edge of the circle, it turned back and began crawling away from the white circle towards the black one. The boy watched as the insect progressively moved farther away from his desire to his doom.
Then, just when the insect got to the edge of the black circle, the boy stretched his hands, picked it up and quickly but carefully dropped it in the white circle. The soothsayer was in shock, he had never seen anyone intervene like this. He asked the boy as to what he did and why he did what he did.
The boy smiled and simply replied by saying “I cannot sit and watch my destiny go down the gloom doom. I will change course myself while I can still do something about it. My destiny is in my hands” and saying this the young boy got up and left.
You also get the hell up, pick up the damn millipede and drop it where you want. The power to design and pilot your life is in your hands. You either sit down there, complain and feel someone owes you something or get up and determine the flow of your life. It’s up to you.
This is not the time to look for miracles, create your own miracles, conjure your own magic. This too shall pass, take your destiny in your hands and shape it the way you want it. Stay safe, have a great weekend & stay blessed forever.
What a cool story this is !! I did edit it a bit but the message is intact. So many of us simply sit back and complain, waiting for someone else to lift us out of poverty, out of our distress or simply feed us :):). The doles given out by the government also don’t help, as one gets free money for doing nothing except being poor. I am totally against doles of any kind. I am all for creating an equal opportunity environment, provide free good quality education, teach good work ethic and then let people work hard and earn their money.
