#9Minutesat9PM for India

As we all lit lamps at 9 PM for 9 minutes I was remembering and chanting the morning prayer from my  school –

ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय ।
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।
मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय ।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

From untruth/unreal to truth/real
From darkness/evil to light/good
From the fear of death/death to the knowledge of our immortality/immortality
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti

Prime Minister Modi had asked all of us to light a lamp at 9 pm tonight for 9 minutes to build our morale and just bring some hope in the time of the Corona crisis. At Ridgewood, we celebrated those 9 minutes with Shankh-Naad, bells and slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” besides lighting lamps in our respective balconies. Many of our neighbours who live across the road in individual homes rather than a condo complex, also got onto their rooftops and celebrated with us.

It was surreal and magical. It brought a lot of positivity and a sense of being in it together.

I had lit the regular oil lamp inside the house, and a couple of candles for the balcony.

A short video of the celebration, captured by Krishnan –

I loved our PM’s tweet –

So glad that we are led by a “karma yogi” during these troubled times.

Praying for the world to be rid of this virus and for all of us to get back to a better life, more in tune with Mother Nature and more in touch with our inner selves. We shall prevail.

JaiHind.
