11. Chand Bibi

The regent of Bijapur and Ahmednagar during the Bahamani Sultanate Period. A warrior princess, she is famous for the Defence of Ahmednagar of 1595 against the invading armies of Emperor Akbar. 

12. Marthanda Varma, the ruler and the maker of Modern Travancore in Kerala.

He is forever remembered for the Battle of Colachel of 1741, where he defeated the Dutch. This is the earliest example of an Asian power defeating the Europeans. The Dutch never recovered. 

13. Rani Abbaka Chowta of Ullal.

The Queen of the city of Ullal in Tulunadu area of Karnataka, she defeated the Portuguese on several occasions and defended her territory for over 40 years. 

14. Rana Hammir Singh.

The king of Mewar, Rajasthan, he defeated the invading Tuglaq armies and according to legend, even took Mohammed Bin Tuglaq prisoner. Mewar remained the only kingdom in north which refused to bow to the Turkic invasions.Rana Pratap belongs to his dynasty.

15. Lachit Borphukan

The Ahom general who defeated the Mughals in the famous Battle of Saraighat of 1671. Aurungzeb’s armies abandoned any hopes of ever occupying Assam after this naval debacle. 

16. Nagabhata I, the founder of the Gurjara Pratihara dynasty.

He is known to have defeated the Arab Invasions of Sindh and defeated the governors of Ummayud Caliph during their raid over Ujjain. 

There are many more rulers who have been forgotten by mainstream history. Madurai Tirumala Nayaka , Peshwa Balaji Vishwanath, Rani Rudramadevi, Raja Ram Jat and Churaman, Rudradaman, Hoysala Vishnvardhana, Lakshmikarna of the Kalachuris, Chandela King Dhanga. The list is endless.
