Daily Gratitude

Today I am grateful for being born in India. Actually the sentence should read, just like everyday, today too am glad to be born in India. It’s not patriotism alone, and I don’t think there is a single word that can describe the feeling. The closest feeling is what one feels for one’s mother.

जननी जन्म भूमिश्च स्वर्गादपी गरीयसी ।

The literal translation of the above statement is, a mother and the country you are born in are both greater than heaven.

The only thing I always wish for is to be reborn again and again in India. This piece of land is ancient, it’s alive and the Gods have walked on this land. By Gods, I mean the Mystics, the great Rishis, and the enlightened souls. Krishna, Mahavira, Adi Sankara, Rama, Gautama Buddha, Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati, Ramana Maharishi, Guru Nanak Dev, Sage Patanjali, Sant Tukaram, Baba Gorakhnath, Kabir, Meera, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and more recently Jiddu Krishnamurthy and the Master of Masters Osho have all wandered over this land. Just walking on the same land is such a privilege !

Hoping that someday, many many lives later, some of their experience will be mine ….

    • I am anyway a very old soul Koka so age caught up with me at birth 🤣🤣. My love for India is not new. I have had opportunities to work in a different country, but never wanted to leave India. Happy to visit many countries but can’t live anywhere else.
