Ayushman Bharat – How it can help

The biggest health care program in the world – Ayushman Bharat  is about to complete two years of operation. The very first health centre under Ayushman Bharat was inaugurated by PM Modi on April 14th, 2018. So far the scheme has impacted 93 lakh beneficiaries already. The report card from Oct last year is as follows –

Recently the government has announced that treatment for Corona Virus will also be included under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Thankfully, the AAP government in Delhi has adopted the Ayushman Bharat scheme from FY 2020-21. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/aap-govt-will-implement-ayushman-bharat-scheme-in-delhi-sisodia/articleshow/74774988.cms. Only three states are yet to enrol in the scheme – West Bengal, Telangana and Odisha. Hopefully the state governments relent and implement the scheme in their states as well.

I visited the website of Ayushman Bharat and here is the latest dashboard that talks of how many beneficiaries got added till March 24th, 2020. Its commendable that the government is tracking these numbers as closely.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme is the surest way to help the poor get good medical help when they need it most. As we are dealing with the pandemic, it would help if we can confirm with our domestic help, driver, security guard and other lesser privileged individuals around us, that they are enrolled in this scheme. Its relatively simple to enrol, either you can collect all the details of the beneficiary and enrol them or they can visit the nearest CSC (Community Service Centre) to enrol. Please do this over the phone and not in person as far as possible.

Lets use the time we have on our hands to get the lesser privileged enrolled in this scheme.
