Disclaimer : Don’t let the title fool you. I remain a huge fan of Mr. Modi irrespective of what happens in any poll. For me he is the greatest Prime Minister India has known and will know in a long long time. Yes, Lal Bahadur Shastri ji didn’t get enough time in the role otherwise he would have been definitely a great contender for that title.
Now to the Delhi polls. Am glad that BJP lost the Delhi polls because in my opinion the Delhi BJP team is made up of a bunch of entitled, corrupt and non-performing people. I don’t even want to call them leaders. They have run the Delhi Municipal corporation for years now and as soon as Mrs. Sheila Dikshit lost the election, the Municipal corporation has turned Delhi into a garbage city, Swachh Bharat be damned !!
I really don’t care whether they get along with Arvind Kejriwal or not – they are a corporation taking salaries and not doing their job. The second reason that BJP had to lose Delhi was because they have done nothing for reducing the pollution in the city. I don’t know their reasons but again, as a citizen I don’t appreciate the Central Government not fixing the toxic pollution in the Delhi NCR region. People living in Delhi NCR are struggling to stay healthy and there is precious little that has been done to fix this issue.
As far as AAP is concerned, Arvind Kejriwal has let down the Aam Aadmi by showing his true colours -he is no activist, he is a slimy, ill-intentioned politician. He has won the election because there was no other party in sight, and because of the freebies and the cosmetic changes that he has brought about in the schools and the Mohalla clinics. I will believe his school improvement project as successful when his children, his party workers’ children and the Delhi HNI’s children start attending a government school. Till then its good, but not enough. Hopefully he continues with the changes and takes it to all the government schools. I will agree that Mohalla clinics are a success when they are kept clean and fully functional besides keeping their surroundings clean. Waiting to see that happen. But Arvind Kejriwal is a human being and as all human beings have the seed of change, so does he. If he does learn to work with everyone and not waste his mandate, he can win again.
Congratulations to AAP and hopefully now that they have won, the Shaheen Bagh protestors will also clear the roads and make life a little better for the regular Delhiite and with the weather changing, no protestor’s child needs to die of cold.
The BJP, AAP and people of Delhi need to look at the following tweet carefully and draw their own conclusions –
The above tweet has wrong information as pointed out by a reader of the blog. Posting the article that he has kindly shared with me – https://www.business-standard.com/article/elections/delhi-elections-aap-s-victory-margins-show-that-it-wasn-t-a-close-contest-120021200821_1.html.
My conclusions remain the same though.
My conclusions are as follows –
BJP – Start performing at all levels and don’t wait for Modiji to bail you out of non-performance. It ain’t happening. Also stay connected to your constituency like the AAP MLAs.
AAP – You are on thin ice and a short rope … a few more mistakes and you can drown or hang yourselves. Btw start by changing the rule or subsection or whatever that is stopping the Nirbhaya convicts from being hanged and has been introduced by your government. That’s the least you can do to earn some good Karma.
People of Delhi – Stop chasing freebies and go out and vote. Take the metro or walk, not your expensive ill-maintained car. Remember freebies are paid for by the taxpaying idiot.
