Jaathi Malli and Rudraksham

We celebrated Pongal/Sankranti by witnessing the Lakshadeepam festival at Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. The Lakshadeepam festival starts in the evening. So we all took bath again in the evening and I started the year with a beautiful Mango yellow Cooptex silk saree.

When Mr. Venkatesh Narasimhan had come to Delhi on Oct 22nd 2019, for a presentation on the different motifs and the weaving techniques, Cooptex also put up a festive weaves sale of sarees. That’s where I bought this saree …. the colour just jumped out at me.

The motif all over is the Jaathi Malli or the thin long jasmine and the border has two rows of the Rudraksham motif. Just the perfect combination to wear for a spiritual experience like the Lakshadeepam. The sari of course drapes like a dream and inspite of the humid weather in Thiruvananthapuram, it kept me cool throughout the evening.

The neck piece is from Desh Maheshwari, Noida.

The weaver’s card was not on the saree so couldn’t post his/her details with a heartfelt thanks but am sure Venkatesh and team Cooptex will carry my thanks to him/her.

Thank you team Cooptex and your amazing weavers for this beautiful saree and all of your beautiful creations. So glad that we get to enjoy draping them.
