On Dec 4th, we went to Daryaganj to see if Krishnan’s name can be rectified on the PAN card. We need to register ShikshaDaan on Darpan and for that Krishnan’s name isn’t getting added as Chief Functionary because his name is spelt differently on Aadhar and PAN. We were going on the Asaf Ali Marg after many many years …
We were quite regular at the old book stalls that were put up on the pavement in Daryaganj till 15 years back and then we just stopped. We have a whole stack of the past issues of Harvard Business Review bought at this market. But once HBR was available online and then Kindle became our default reading platform, the need to go to this market was lost. I read recently that this market has been shifted to the Mahila Haat near the Delhi Gate metro station. Must make a visit sometime to the “new” old books market :).
From UTI’s office we went to Abhay’s office near Lohe-ka-pul. I clicked a few pictures on the way ….
We reached Abhay’s office just before lunch. Had a great lunch of old Delhi food including jalebi (not from the Dariba shop). We got into the Delhi metro at Jama Masjid and changed to the yellow line at Central Secretariat. So thrilled with the reach of the Delhi Metro. The new purple and pink lines have actually made a huge difference. I just wish we can travel everywhere in the metro once its all done, just like the London Underground. Reached home in lesser time than the Uber took while going.
This is what you can’t get in any other city in India … history in every step, every road and every corner !
