Yes, it is Krishnan’s birthday…

So I get to wear a new sari too :):):). I was eagerly waiting to get the sari designed and dyed by Shri Brij Ballabh Udaiwal, an artist who is a national award winner. The sari arrived just in the nick of time on Saturday, so I could release it for Krishnan’s birthday today.

We also got a blue shirt for Krishnan yesterday so we could both wear similar colours today. Here’s the birthday boy in his blue shirt.

Since Geetu suggested that cobalt blue was Krishnan’s color we tried to get a shirt in that color but this was the closest blue we could get :).

The customary selfie … and Amma is yet to get comfortable with taking pictures on the phone. She takes good pictures with a regular camera, but with the phone, the photograph turns shaky because she tries to click like a regular camera :):).

Brij sari polka

Just see the beauty of Brij Ji’s dyeing – the chevrons look stunning !!. The blouse is a T.shirt that I picked up in the street opposite the Penn State University building in Pennsylvania, USA, when we were there for the Wharton term of my MBA.

View of the entire sari. This is a blouse from another sari – a half satin, half chiffon sari that I bought at Kumaran Stores, some 12 years back. The neckpiece is from Desh Maheshwari, Noida. Lovely Lapis lazuli stones :).

Geetu says the blouse goes well with the sari more than the polka dotted T.shirt. I want to try another blouse which is a bright yellow with some blue embroidery in the sleeve… another day.

Thank You Brij Ji for this stunning creation and thank you W3 for getting it at a special price for all of us.

  1. It seems a little unfair that you get the gift for his birthday. 🙂 But then a celebration is a celebration, so go ahead and enjoy. Vaazhkai Vaazhvadarke! Best wishes to Krishnan-ji!
