Irresponsible … :(

I watched the movie “Dhoom 3” on TV today. Nice slick production and many things to feel happy about, storyline is interesting and well, with the great Aamir Khan as the main protagonist, the acting was superb. Especially the scene towards the end where he morphs into a different character duping Abhishek Bachchan.

The one thing that completely put me off and is really irresponsible behavior from the makers of the movie – popular actors riding super bikes without a helmet :(:(. No matter what you say to your little kid, he/she will try and do what his/her favorite movie star does. How can the perfectionist Aamir Khan, miss this important piece ? Uday Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan too !

We Indians don’t care about safety – it’s actually not dare devilry but stupidity. Here are a couple of pictures of what happens on our roads –

An open truck carrying cement bricks … Happy to help someone die 🙁

This picture was taken at peak traffic hours (9 am) at IFFCO Chowk, Gurgaon. The Wagon R was clearly making life difficult for others and clearly a danger 🙁 by being in the opposite direction to the traffic flow. Am not even talking wrong lanes here. This is just dumb and the guy was smiling.

In the following picture it’s not very clear, but the scooter with the boy in a white Tshirt was actually two little boys driving the scooter around Richards Park in Bangalore. They were clearly underage and am sure their proud father was somewhere around. All the pride will not bring the boys back as something bad happens someday without helmets and not being able to manage a scooter that was heavy. I tried getting a better picture but could not, nor could I locate the father. It happened for a couple of days 🙁

Movies and movie stars have a huge responsibility – they shape the minds of their young admirers. Just as smoking has been banned, driving super bikes or even cycling without helmets must be stopped. Please show stars taking the precautions and following rules, especially in adventure sports. The price one pays for not taking precautions in adventure sports is usually life or disability that really is sad. You don’t see Jason Statham not wearing his seat belt as he does his driving stunts, but we don’t care. Ride safe, drive safe and enjoy the adrenaline pumping action, but with precautions.
